This second volume follows the same format as the first, presenting an entirely new selection of flyers that trace an extended period in Chicago’s music history—from early “mobile disco” events that predate the use of the term “house,” to the rise of a new generation of house DJs and artists inspired by the genre’s pioneers. Like the first volume, it highlights a wide network of individuals and movements connected to the house scene, including dance groups, party crews, promoters, record labels, and record stores—both prominent and lesser known. Together, these elements provide insight into a pivotal era of Chicago music whose influence continues to resonate today.
